After two years of honing our skills learning to raise broiler chickens for meat, we are raising Red Ranger chickens to offer for sale. This breed is said to be the one preferred by Julia Child herself, and we agree with Julia! Red Rangers have a natural balance between white and dark meat and a deep, rich chicken flavor. The meat is juicy and firm–but not the least bit tough. It is a welcome change from commercially raised chicken which we find to be spongy and bland.
Our chickens are raised on pasture and fed locally sourced organic feed. The price is $5.50/lb., and we estimate that chickens will weigh between 3.5 and 6 lbs. once processed. Chickens will be available for pick up at the farm on July 14 and July 21. You can reserve your chickens with a $10 deposit per chicken. When you order, please specify which pick up date you would prefer.
Full Disclosure: Warning! Once you have tried pasture raised Red Ranger chickens, you may find it very difficult to return to eating standard grocery store chickens. Don’t say I did not warn you.
