Black Cherry Tomato Start

Black Cherries are not quite as prolific in our garden as are the Supersweet 100s and the Sungolds. We grow them every year, though, because we love the visual contrast of their dark purple flesh with the sunny orange of Sungold, and bright red of the Supersweet 100s. Black Cherry Tomatoes are slightly larger than the other two cultivars and have a sweet, rich flavor.

Tomatoes plants MUST be protected from frost.  In Ellensburg, I wait until June 1 to plant out any tomato plants (after hardening them off), and have frost blankets ready if it looks like nighttime temperatures will dip. Black Cherry Tomato can start producing 64 days after being planted out.
